Migrant worker cell inaugurated in Surat
Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan  inaugurated a migrant worker cell at Surat
in Gujarat. It is the initiative of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to help Odia migrant
workers working in different industries of the city.
This cell will do a detailed mapping of migrant workers and classify them according to their
skill sets. It will go a long way in connecting the labour force to relevant industries, boost
their livelihood and also ensure their dignity.

India, Sri Lanka hold meeting of Joint Working Group on Fisheries
The Fourth Meeting of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Working Group on Fisheries was held
through virtual mode.
The meeting covered the entire gamut of issues related to fishermen and fishing boats
which have been on the agenda of bilateral discussions between India and Sri Lanka for
many years.
In the previous meeting held on 26 September this year, both leaders agreed to continue
engagement to address the issues related to fishermen through regular consultation and
bilateral channels.
The Indian side also reiterated the need for releasing all fishing boats in Sri Lankan custody
in line with the commitment given by the Sri Lankan President during his state visit to India
in November last year.

NATIONAL
The Air Quality Board instructs 100% Conversion Industry
The NCR and the Air Quality Management Committee of the adjacent area together with the
Delhi NCT government, GAIL and Indraprastha Gas Limited reviewed the progress of the
conversion of the industry operating in Delhi to pipeline natural gas (PNG).
Although a considerable number of industries are using PNG, the committee emphasized
that considering that the industrial sector is one of the main factors causing air pollution in
Delhi and the National Capital Region, all identified industries in Delhi must switch to PNG.
The committee was established in November 2020 in accordance with the Air Quality
Management Act of the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjacent areas.
In terms of air pollution mitigation, it replaced all existing agencies including the Central
Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the National Pollution Control Boards of Delhi, UP,
Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.

New Routes Determined by Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has determined new routes for
RO-RO, RO-PAX and Ferry Services.

DIU, PIPAVAV, Dahej, Mumbai/JNPT, Jamnagar, Kochi, Ghogha, Goa, Mundra and Mandvi
and 6 international routes connect 4 international destinations, namely Chattogram

from major Indian coastal port towns for the commencement of ferry services through
inland waterways.

the country’s port-led development by using India’s 7,500 kilometers of coastline and
