In Gujarat, cybercrime up by 368% in 2 years
It’s not financial frauds alone but there has been a rise in the number of cases involving cyberbullying, threats and posting obscene sexual materials against Women, which are being noticed by the state Police over the last five years. In 2022, there were 5,228 cases involving Social Media accounts and in most cases more than 75% to 80% cases involved women.
According to theNational Crime Research Bureau(NCRB), inGujaratthe most significant period for reporting such cases was between 2017 and 2020 where cases rose from 94 to 277 in 2020 – mainly involving cyber blackmailing, threatening, cyberbullying and posting of obscene contents pertaining to the victims. In all, 781 cases involving women victims were reported by the state police till 2020.
In 2021 and 2022, quite significantly cyber trafficking cases were reported where perpetrators fake a romantic relationship with the victims on social media to exploit them. The cases reported by the CID crime were 32 and 46 cases respectively for the two years.
Post-pandemic, which is between two years, 2021 and 2022, cybercrime complaints have risen 368% – from 17,237 cases in 2021 to 80,681 in 2022. This stupendous rise in overall cybercrime cases is because of a 530% rise in just online financial fraud cases – from 11,131 cases in 2021 to 70,183 in 2022.

Lexi, Indias First AI-Based Chatbot Introduced in India
India recently launched its first AI-based chatbot named Lexi powered by ChatGPT which is a complex computer machine. The chatbot has been invented by the financial technology firm Velocity. Also, it is integrated into their in-house analytics tool.
This chatbot is designed to provide assistance to E-Commerce founders with business insights in a simplified manner. Moreover, it has been integrated with Velocitys own analytics tool i.e. Velocity Insights. The Velocity firm made the official chatbot announced in an online blog post.
The Generative Pre-Traind Transformer (ChatGPT) has been integrated into the same WhatsApp interface. This will give customers an opportunity to use the AI-based Lexi and they will be able to ask questions or enquire with the help of this Software.
IITs setting up mental-wellness centres to cope with suicides
Peeved over the suicide of an IIT-Bombay student and many more in the past at the prestigious chain of institutes, several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are taking preventive measures such as counselling and mentorship for students with low grades and backlogs, reducing the curriculum load and setting up mental-wellness centres.
Also, the parliamentary standing committee for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) has called a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the recent suicide by 18-year-old Darshan Solanki at IIT-Bombay.
Suicide by an IIT Bombay student recently amid allegations of caste discrimination has brought the limelight back on the rigorous curriculum and competition at the prestigious institutes. IIT Bombay Director Subhasis Chaudhuri has announced that institute is working towards changes in their UG curriculum to make it “more relevant and motivating to students, and to reduce some Stress.

The online platform will provide you with a one-stop destination for all insurance needs, providing Services like buying insurance policies, portability facilities, change of insurance agents and settling of claims. It allows buyers to purchase life, motor or Health insurance policies directly. Besides, web aggregators (such as PolicyX, PolicyBazaar, etc.), brokers (such as Bajaj Capital, Probus Insurance Broker, etc.), banks and insurance agents will act as facilitators in selling insurance policies. The Bima Sugam platform will provide all these facilities to policyholders with an e-insurance account (E-IA).
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit
The Ministry of Skill development and (MSDE) is organizing a seminar tomorrow at Hyatt Regency on building capacities among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) partner nations through skill training and nurturing a new generation of entrepreneurs. At the seminar, India will present its best practices on the digital transformation across different sectors in areas of Health, Education, skilling, IT and more, with special focus on sectors that helped cater to the welfare challenges faced by the masses during the pandemic.
