Gujarat third worst with 1 lakh kids out of school at primary level
Data tabled by the Union Government in the Lok Sabha on Monday shows thatGujarathas the third highest number of ‘out of school children’ (OoSC) at the elementary level. The only two states that have higherOoSCnumbers areUttar PradeshandBihar.
While UP has the highest number of OoSC at 3,96,665, Bihar is second with 1,34,252. Gujarat ranks third with 1,06,885 children not admitted in any primary class.Under the Samagra Shiksha scheme of the Union government, all states and union territories (UTs) need to conduct household surveys for identification of OoSC. The department of school Education and Literacy has developed an online module for compiling data on OoSCs identified by each state and UT on the PRABANDH portal.

Vibrant Village Programme to be Implemented for Border States

The second of eight anti-submarine warfare shallow water boats (ASW SWC) built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, INS Androth, was launched.
These 77-meter-long, 25-knot-capable vessels were made specifically for minelaying, low-intensity maritime operations and anti-submarine operations in coastal areas.

Lok Sabha passed a Rs 1.118 lakh crore budget for financial year 2023-24 for the , amid ruckus by the Opposition over a demand for a JPC probe into the Adani issue.
The budget for Jammu and Kashmir was passed by a voice vote amid din.

According to the reports, the Modern Coach Factory (MCF) Rae Bareli has given a new name to the hockey stadium which is Ranis Girls Hockey Turf.
Sri Lanka receives first tranche of IMF bailout
Sri Lanka has received the first tranche of anIMF bailoutprogramme, PresidentRanil Wickremesinghetold parliament.
The crisis-ridden island nation was scheduled to receive a $330 million tranche, the first part of a nearly $3 billion bailout approved by the (IMF).
The IMF bailout is expected to catalyse additional support to the tune of $3.75 billion from the likes of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and other lenders. It clears the way for Sri Lanka to rework a substantial part of its $84 billion worth of Public Debt.
This was the 17thIMF bailout for Sri Lankaand the third since the country’s decades-long civil war ended in 2009.

The projects of the Adani Group caused controversy in Sri Lanka last year, with government critics questioning the openness and due procedure used to approve the projects.
