PM to participate in the Ekta Diwas Celebrations
Prime Minister to participate in the Ekta Diwas Celebrations at Kevadia, Gujarat on 31st
October. Prime Minister will pay homage to Sardar Patel on his 145th birth anniversary on
31st October 2020.
The Prime Minister will participate at the Ekta Diwas Parade and administer the Rashtriya
Ekta Pledge in Gujarat.
Police forces of Gujarat State and Central Reserve Armed Force, Border Security Force, Indo-
Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Security Forces and National Security Guards will
participate in the Parade.
The Prime Minister will also witness a Rifle drill by female officers of CRPF.
As part of EktaDiwas celebrations, a cultural show of tribal heritage is also being organized
at Kevadia and Indian Air Force will perform a Fly-past.
Thereafter, the Prime Minister will interact with and address 428 Officer Trainees belonging
to various Civil Services currently undergoing the 95th Foundation Course at Lal Bahadur
Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie through videoconference as a
culmination of Aarambh 2020.
The theme of Aarambh 2020 is “Governance in India @ 100” with three subthemes –
Ek Bharat – Shresth Bharat: Cultural diversity and synergy in India as an Influencer;
Economic diversity and oneness as strength
Atma Nirbhar Bharat: in Energy, Health and building large systems for handling black swan
events
Naveen Bharat: Research & Innovation in Education, Industry and Administration.
Shri Narendra Modi will also unveil the website of Statue of Unity in all the UN official
languages and will launch the Kevadia App, at the Unity Glow Garden.

International Animation Day: 28 October
International Animation Day is observed globally on 28 October every year.
The day celebrates the art of animation and also recognises the artists, scientists and
technicians behind animation.
The day was created in 2002 by the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA), an
International Animated Film Association, a member of UNESCO.
NATO plans to set up new space center in Germany
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance, plans to build a headquarters for
space operations at its airbase in Ramstein in Germany, to counter a rising Russian and
Chinese threat.
The new centre is to be a central point of contact to support NATO missions with
communication and satellite images.
It will also be a place to exchange information on potential threats to satellites.
Some 2,000 satellites orbit the Earth, more than half of which are operated by NATO
members, allowing everything from mobile phone services to weather forecasts.

Feni bridge connecting India and Bangladesh to be completed by December
The 1.8 kilometre long Feni bridge connecting Sabrum in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh
will be completed by December this year.
This was announced by the Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Minister Nitin Gadkari
while laying the foundation stone of nine National Highway projects in Tripura through
video conferencing.
The Feni bridge being built at the cost of Rs. 129 crore will ease the transportation of goods
from Chattogram and Kolkata ports.
An integrated check post is also proposed to be built near Sabrum.
The RCC bridge over Feni will improve connectivity to the international border with
Bangladesh.
V Prez Venkaiah Naidu launches virtual festival of ‘Parampara Series 2020-National
Festival of Music and Dance’
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu launched the virtual festival of ‘Parampara Series 2020-
National Festival of Music and Dance’ organized by Natya Tarangini in partnership with the
United Nations.
He appreciated Natya Tarangini for organising the ‘Parampara Series’ continuously since
past 23 years, and adopting innovative efforts to make it happen for the 24th year, even in
difficult times like this.
It may be noted that this festival has been organized to coincide with the World Day for
Audio-visual Heritage.
RBI bars payment system operators from launching any new QR codes
The Reserve Bank of India has barred Payment System Operators (PSOs) from launching any
new proprietary QR code for payment transactions.
Currently, there are two interoperable QR codes — UPI QR and Bharat QR.
QR codes (quick response codes) are two-dimensional machine-readable barcodes, which
are increasingly used to facilitate mobile payments at the point-of-sale.
QR codes (quick response codes) can store a large amount of information. PSOs that use
proprietary QR codes shall shift to one or more interoperable QR codes.
ISRO to launch earth observation satellite EOS-01 on 7 November
This is the first launch by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) since the COVID-19
induced lockdown came into force in March.
India would launch its latest earth observation satellite EOS-01 and nine international
customer spacecraft onboard its Polar rocket PSLV-C49 from the spaceport of Sriharikota in
Andhra Pradesh on November 7.
ISRO Chairman K Sivan had said in June that ten space missions being prepared for launch
this year have been 'disturbed' due to the lockdown.
EOS-01 is intended for applications in agriculture, forestry&disaster management support.
The customer satellites are being launched under a commercial agreement with NewSpace
India Limited (NSIL), Department of Space.
This will be the 51st mission of ISRO's workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.
