Suzuki’s Gujarat plant hits 1 million production milestone
Maruti Suzuki on announced that its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat has rolled out 1 million units
over a span of 3 years and 9 months.
Out of all three Maruti Suzuki plants in India, the Gujarat plant becomes the fastest to
achieve this feat. The Hansalpur plant In Gujarat began production in February 2017, under
the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Maruti Suzuki produced around 1.58 million units in India, out of which the Gujarat plant
accounted for 25% of the total production.
The Maruti Suzuki Gujarat plant has approximately 1,800 employees (as of March 2020) and
it was set up with a total investment of Rs 126.8 billion.

BRICS Adopts a New Strategy for Counter-Terrorism
The Group of Five BRICS countries have adopted a new counter-terrorism strategy to deal
with terrorism effectively.
The goal is to complement and strengthen the existing bilateral and multilateral relations
between the BRICS countries. And make a meaningful contribution to the global effort to
prevent and combat the threat of terrorism.

The BRICS countries reiterate that terrorism in various forms, and manifestations are one of
the most severe threats to international peace and security. Any terrorist act is a crime
without justification.

They also recognized that the international community should take the necessary steps to
strengthen cooperation to prevent and combat terrorism, including the transboundary
movement of terrorists.

The abbreviation of the BRICS countries is associated with five major emerging economies:
Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
India ranks 77 in global bribery risk matrix
India is at 77th position with a score of 45 in a global list that measures business bribery
risks of 2020.
The list by TRACE, an anti-bribery standard setting organisation, measures business bribery
risk in 194 countries, territories, and autonomous and semi-autonomous regions.
According to this year’s data, North Korea, Turkmenistan, South Sudan, Venezuela and
Eritrea present the highest commercial bribery risk, while Denmark, Norway, Finland,
Sweden and New Zealand present the lowest.

In 2019, India’s rank stood 78 position with a score of 48 while in 2020 the country was
ranked 77 with a score of 45.

Government of India launches Safaimitra Suraksha Challenge.

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched ‘Safaimitra Suraksha
Challenge’.
It has been launched on the occasion of World Toilet Day for the safety of sewer or septic
tank cleaner.
It will ensure that no person lost their life due to entering a sewer or septic tank.
It will promote mechanized cleaning and will fend off the hazardous cleaning of sewers and
septic tanks.
In 2013, the Government of India had enacted the Prohibition of Employment as Manual
Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act to restrict hazardous cleaning.
PM Modi to inaugurate RE-INVEST 2020 on Nov 26

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the virtual 3rd Global Renewable Energy
Investment Meeting and Expo (RE-INVEST 2020), on 26th of this month.
The 3rd RE-Invest will build upon the success of the first two editions held in 2015 and 2018.
It will provide an international forum for investment promotion in renewable energy.
RE-INVEST 2020 will include a two-day virtual conference on renewables and future energy
choices and an exhibition of manufacturers, developers, investors and innovators engaged
in the clean energy sector.
NCRTC and NDB sign USD 500m for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Transit System Project

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, National Capital Region Transport Corporation
Limited and the New Development Bank signed a loan agreement for lending 500 million
dollars for the ‘Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System Project’.

The Rapid Transit System will provide a fast, reliable, safe and comfortable public transport
system in the National Capital Region.
Due to lack of efficient public transport options, the number of private vehicles in NCR has
increased.
It can take about 3 to 4 hours to travel between Delhi and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh by road
during peak hours.
Fast transit system will support in achieving the goal of sustainable urban development in
NCR region including National Capital Territory of Delhi.
PM FME Scheme is Added With Capacity Building Component
The Union Minister for Food Processing Industries inaugurates capacity building component
as a part of PM-FME Scheme.

The Minister also released GIS One District One Product (ODOP).
The GIS One District One Product digital map of India provides detailed information on
ODOP products in all states and provides convenience for stakeholders.
The digital map also has indicators for tribes, SC, ST and ideal areas.
This will enable stakeholders to make concerted efforts for the development of its value
chain.
